The driving principle of Medium Rare is to exhibit the work of six artists who are currently at work transforming 
the idea of the medium through their work.  Whether it be drawings on paper, classic snapshot photography or oil on canvas, 
each of these artists manipulates and inverts the tools of their trade into something completely unexpected and unusual.  

Shervone Neckles is impossible to classify as an artist, but she has used media as diverse as the classic American quilt and 
brown paper bags to frame questions of African American identity and history. 

Clara Fialho paints dreamscapes in oil on canvas, but she bridges to disciplines of abstract and realistic painting, forcing 
the viewer to question which emerges from which, and where abstraction ends and realism begins. 

Elice Co and Nik Pashenkov have combined technology with the simple act of making a drawing, or taking a walk in the rain, 
but in so doing have added a dimension of reflection and inspiration that reveal an alternate world of whimsical spirits and 
electrical impulses. 

Tommy Mintz has taken the mischievious pastime of the secret snapshot of the unknowing passerby and elevated it to the level 
of formal portrait.  He draws our attention to the little-noticed but profoundly important world of the hidden detail, exposing 
secret desires and obsessions.
