Chromosomes are eerie representations of our primal selves--physical yet metaphysical, gendered yet nongendered, figurative yet nonfigurative; in my recent series of sculpture/paintings, the mattress is appropriated as a metaphor for the cell--a modular, rectangular form upon which we leave our intimate marks. |
