Blurring the boundaries of drawing, sculpture, and installation, I employ mundane materials including pins, foam, and spray paint to explore the psychological space of obsession. A new visual landscape is created when marks amass and accumulate. Pools of spilled house paint and painted nails create an invented world dripping with rich colors and textures. Similar to an architect’s model, the objects map idealized spaces and new environments. Visually, the terrain is sickly sweet; the materials collide with this quality, calling attention to its artifice. |
