Layers of time, memories, and symbols blow across the vast expanse of the desert while the Raven, as conductor, etches invisible pathways overhead. The Joshua tree stands tall and statuesque at the gateway– contorted and distinctive, gesturing towards the many possible directions yet always firmly rooted at the center. My process is derived from gathering, juxtaposing and transforming context and meaning from everyday forms, objects and images in an investigation and meditation into the idea of location, and how we inhabit our selves– both internally as well as in relation to our external surroundings. |
